Gratitude is Attitude

In April of 2025 Jeffersontown. KY was struck by a severe category 3 tornado. And there was excessive property damage. Thankfully there were no human casualties and for that we are grateful. One of the businesses negatively impacted by that tornado was the medical practice of Dr Frank G Simon’s son, Dr Frank Tolis Simon. Known to us as Doctor T.

The Kentucky Family Association still occupies a part of the medical offices where Frank G had his medical practice, so in the days following the tornado, Doctor T and his staff extracted all that they could from the debris and brought it to his father’s office to set up temporarily to keep serving his patients and figure out what the aftermath was really going to entail to fix.

The transition was hectic, as I am sure you can imagine. Between trying to set up the office in a new location as quickly as possible and assessing the impact of the property damage, the schedule led to a few sleepless weeks, but Dr T kept going.

As the year progressed, Kentucky Family Association got accustomed to sharing the office space with people that brought the place to life again. There has been an adjustment period, but having Dr Frank G and his son Doctor T under one roof again was a vision that came together in an unexpected way.

We could describe the situation as cozy. The lessons for us all have been many. And with the pressure of the weight Doctor T is carrying to keep all the plates spinning, he has continued to express gratitude. Doctor T has said, “Without gratitude we have nothing.”

Accommodating each other in the shared space, as well as being gracious with each other has taught us lessons in patience. As it turns out, more patience is needed. As I am sure you can imagine, the process of damage claims, and processing insurance to be able to get permits to rebuild the Jeffersontown office takes time. And while that process is still under way, Doctor T has been trying to function with one quarter of the office space than he is used to and so it has come to a point where we’re looking for alternatives and more space.

We have access to some space in the same building on the second floor where our conference room/meeting room is located. So after more than 20 years we will be moving our office closer to our conference/meeting room to allow Doctor T to take over the whole medical office space for as long as he needs it while he restores his original offices.

We hope to get this done over the holidays before the 2026 legislative session is in full gear, so please be in prayer for us to have a smooth transition and we are thankful as always for your support. We see this as a blessing to both parties to be able to be more functional and productive overall and while it was never our plan, some things work out for the better.

We continue with the attitude of gratitude.

May you and your families be blessed this Thanksgiving season.
