The Ten Commandments in Public Schools: Where Do We Stand?

Updated: Feb 26

We have observed the ten commandments statue being reinstated on the Kentucky Capitol grounds. And in this 2026 legislative session we are seeing bills being revised to be reintroduced about the ten commandments being posted back in public schools. Some would argue that there is already a path forward.

Clint Elliott of the Justice Defense Foundation of Kentucky will be our guest speaker at the February KFA meeting and presentation. He has been instrumental in requesting the Kentucky Attorney General Coleman's opinion saying that they likely would not violate the Establishment Clause.

To get more clarity on this understanding please plan to join us at our February Volunteer Meeting and Presentation.

Tom and Claudia Riner: speak about their personal efforts in 10 commandments legislation

Claudia Riner spoke to the importance of including the context statement to the document that would include the congressional record of the 10 commandments. She felt it is important to reference the comparison of free nations vs captive nations and gave an example. Xi Van Fleet grew up in China during Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution. She was too young to be a real revolutionary Red Guard, but old enough to observe the astonishing scenes of violence and ideological fervor around her during those terrible years. The interview she referenced can be viewed here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALOVZ9fc84k&t=29s And her book can be accessed here.

Claudia also referenced the contents of the educational primer that public schools used back in the day that had Biblical references as an educational foundation. A free copy of the New England Primer can be viewed here. https://www.truthaccordingtoscripture.com/documents/politics/THE%20NEW%20ENGLAND%20PRIMER.pdf
